ENGLISH NARRATION

UNDERSTANDING REDOXS AND REDOXS CONCEPTS

Redox is a term that describes the change in oxidation state (oxidation state) of atoms in a chemical reaction. This can be a simple redox process like carbon oxidation that produces carbon dioxide, or carbon reduction by hydrogen to produce methane (CH4), or it can be a complex process such as the oxidation of sugar in the human body through a series of complicated electron transfer.
The term redox comes from two concepts, namely reduction and oxidation.
1)     Oxidation describes the release of electrons by a molecule, atom, or ion.
2)     Reduction describes the addition of electrons by a molecule, atom, or ion.

·       STUDNTE : teacher! So, it can be said of a substance that undergoes oxidation reactions and reduction reactions.
·       TEACHER: Yes of course, redox can also be interpreted as a substance that undergoes oxidation reactions and reduction reactions.
·       STUDNTE : So how is the teacher's mother, we can determine the redox reaction
·       TEACHER: Of course we must know the redox concepts.
Seen from the concept, then the redox is divided into 3 concepts.
The first based on the release and binding of oxygen.
1.     the reduction reaction is the reaction that occurs due to the release of oxygen from a substance.
2.     oxidation reaction is a reaction that occurs due to the binding of oxygen from a substance.

The second is based on the binding and release of electrons.
1.     The reduction reaction is the reaction that occurs due to the binding of electrons by a substance.
2.     Oxidation reaction is a reaction that occurs due to the release of electrons by a substance.

The third is based on the fall and rising of oxidation.
1.     The reduction reaction is the reaction that occurs due to the decline in the number of oxidants.
2.     Oxidation reaction is a reaction that occurs due to the rise of biloks numbers.

·       STUDNTE : Sorry mother teacher, here I am still very lacking in understanding the concept of redox, how we can understand the concept of redox is good dengat,
·       TEACHER: So like this, redox has 3 concepts in it as the mother explained earlier, but the redox was seen from the definition of reduction and oxidation there are 4 namely:
In terms of oxygen:
1.     Reduction is the release of oxygen.
2.     Oxidation ie oxygen capture.
               In terms of hydrogen.
1.     Reduction of hydrogen capture.
2.      Oxidation is the release of hydrogen.
               Viewed from electrons.
1.     Reduction ie electron capture.
2.     Oxidation is the release of electrons.
In terms of the oxidation number.
1.     Reduction is the decrease of oxidation.
2.     Oxidation ie the rise of biloks.

·       STUDNTE : Thanks to the teacher now I can understand the concepts that exist in redok.
·       TEACHER: Well, because you now understand redox concepts and redox notions, now the teacher wants to ask questions as soon as you understand the material that the mother has to say. So what is the oxidation and reduction number?
·       STUDNTE:
a)     The oxidation describes the release of electrons by a molecule, atom, or ion
b)     Reduction describes the addition of electrons by a molecule, atom, or ion.
·       TEACHER: Okay good answer, but Oxidation and reduction precisely refer to changes in oxidation number for actual electron transfer will not always happen.

Thus, oxidation is better defined as an increase in oxidation number, and reduction as a decrease in oxidation. In practice, electron transfer will always change the oxidation number, but there are many reactions that are classified as "redox" even though no electron transfer reactions (eg involving covalent bonds).
·       TEACHER: Mother teacher think you already very understand the material that mother give, so mother of teacher end with greeting  Wassallammuallaikum. Wr.Wb.
·       Wa’alaikumsallam. Wr. Wb.

    1. How to determine biloks is by understanding the concept of redox reactions as follows
The first based on the release and binding of oxygen.
      1. the reduction reaction is the reaction that occurs due to the release of oxygen from a substance.
      2. oxidation reaction is a reaction that occurs due to the binding of oxygen from a substance.

  2. What if the students keep not understand our explain? what should we do?

    1. When students do not understand what we have taught, then as a teacher we must be able to repeat what is not understood students, and give the opportunity to his students to ask the material that has been submitted but lack of understanding. So the occurrence of communication between teachers and students make the material conveyed easy to explain the teacher.
Other than that when a student does not understand what has been explained, and the teacher has explained repeatedly but still the students do not understand, then we as teachers should be able to use other methods in teaching.

  3. What applications use redox in everyday life?

    Balasan
    1. Examples in everyday life can be seen from Redox Reactions In Everyday Life, as follows:
      Alkaline batteries
The alkaline battery is almost the same as the carbon-zinc battery. The anode and the cathode are the same as the carbon-zinc battery, the zinc as the anode and MnO2 as the cathode. The difference lies in the type of electrolyte used. Electrolytes in batteries are KOH or NaOH. The reaction is:

      Anode: Zn + 2 OH- → ZnO + H2O + 2e

      Cathode: 2MnO2 + H2O + 2e- → Mn2O3 + 2OH-

Potential cells produced alkaline battery 1.54 volts. Current and voltage on alkaline batteries are more stable than carbon-zinc batteries.

      Silver oxide battery
These tiny battery shapes such as buttons are used for watch batteries, calculators, and other electronic devices. The anode used is zinc, the cathode is silver oxide and the electrolyte is KOH. The reaction is:

      Anode: Zn → Zn2 ++ 2 e-

      Cathode: Ag2O + H2O + 2e → 2Ag + 2 OH-

The resulting cell potential is 1.5 volts.

      BATTERY
The type of battery that is often used in cars is a 12 volt lead-acid battery commonly called Aki. This battery has six 2 volt cells connected to the series. The lead metal is oxidized to Pb2 + ions

And release the two electrons in the anode. Pb in lead (IV) oxide obtains two electrons and forms Pb2 + ions at the cathode. The Pb2 + ion mixes with the SO42 ions - from asamsulfate to form lead (II) sulfate in each electrode. Thus a reaction that occurs when a lead-acid battery is used produces lead sulfate on both electrodes

      .PbO2 + Pb + 2H2SO4 → 2PbSO4 + 2H2O

The reaction that occurs during the use of lead-acid batteries is spontaneous and does not require energy input. The opposite reaction, recharge the battery, is not spontaneous because it requires the electrical input of the car. The current enters the battery and provides energy for the reaction in which lead sulfate and water are converted into (IV) oxides, lead and sulfuric acid.

      2PbSO4 + 2H2O → PbO2 + Pb + 2H2SO4...

  4. What are the "redox" reactions although there are no electron transfer reactions ?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Redox is a term that describes the change in oxidation state (oxidation state) of atoms in a chemical reaction
The redox also has / reacts electron transfer (Electron Discharge and Receipt)
In the redox concept, the electron discharge event is called oxidation, whereas the electron reception event is called reduction
